05.04.2012 | IDEA campaign conducted a meeting at the Western University.
To protect our environment and to involve youth to this way, IDEA campaign conducted a meeting at the Western University on April 4, 2013. It should be noted that, International Dialogue for Environmental Action is an international campaign launched by Leyla Aliyeva on July 12, 2011 in Baku. . IDEA Projects – both local and international, are aimed at promoting public awareness of environmental issues and encouraging the public to take action. IDEA is all about working with young people to put environmental awareness and action at the heart of family, community and national life. The meeting based on promoting environmental issues, to inform and inspire them on living in harmony with environment, and to let them know about further projects and activity. At the end of the meeting, students shared their interesting points of views and opinions with IDEA.

The Western University activity has been repeatedly evaluated and appasied by international and national agencies over the 20 years of its existence. The University has been awarded for remarkable achievements in the field of education.
İn the year 2011 Western University successfully passed attestation and accreditation conducted by the Ministry of Education of the Azerbaijan Republic and proved to be an institution that meets the latest requirements and trains high quality specialist. At the meeting of the Accreditation Board Education Minister Misir Mardanov upgraded for its particular commitment to quality of teaching and a pioneer of all innovations. He also emphasized that Western University is distinguished among other universities and has maintained its good reputation over the past 20 years.
27.10.2011 | Thor Heyerdahl and Azerbaijan conference.
Thor Heyerdahl is probably the most famous Norwegian of the twentieth century, having had a long career as an explorer, writer and anthropologist.
Heyerdahl visited Azerbaijan several times and spent his last years working on projects focusing on old connections between Caucasus and Scandinavia.This conference brings together scholars from different fields to discuss Heyerdahl, s ideas and to throw light on the ties between these regions.
One of the meetings of” Tur Heyerdal and Azerbaijan” Baku confrans was taken place on the 26th-29th of October.This meeting was organized with the members of Tur Heyerdal 27th of Oktober, in 2011.

The 18th of October,in 2011,in the Western University was held the scientific-practic seminar about the independence of our republic.This seminar took place in the Western University and Zenfira Mammadova made a speech at the beginning of this ceremony.After it,all professor and teacher staff made a speech at 11.45 there was displayed the film about the Independence of our republic.At 12.00 for continuning its work,professor-teacher and students staff went to the confrans hall. .In this seminar the participiants and the best article writer were awarded with diploma.

Baku, May 25. Polish ambassador to Azerbaijan Mikhail Labenda has today visited the Western University, where he met students and teaching staff.
Opening the ceremony, professor of the university Fikrat Sadigov said that such meetings give an opportunity to students to analyze current socio-political environment in the society and in the world.

The 88 th birthday of the nation wide leader is celebrated with a series of events at wee on the initiative of the students of the western Languages “Importance of Bing Ernest” by a well-known English writer Oscar Wilde has been successfully staged this play is about virtues and vices of human nature. His satirical play touches upon many live matters. It has been repeatedly staged and makes audience laugh a good opportunity for the students to put into practice knowledge they have acquired in the course of instruction. It also revealed our students acting skills. The play which prompted a storm of applause once again called upon students to be noble and humane.
06.05.2010 | Charity fair.
On the 7 th May students of the school of Western Languages held a Charity fair. Such charitable events are held annually the birthday of the nation Wide leader Heydar Aliyev. Our great leader Heydar Aliyev himself always was attentive to and took great care of children deprived of their parents, and played a significant role in their upbringing. Western University carries on this king tradition/ the funds raised in the Clarity Fair have been handed out to various foster homes and home for the elderly people.

The exhibition devoted to tragic events of Khojali took place at the Museum of Independence in the 22th of February. Students of 618 “i” and 619 “1” groups exhibited their works.

04.02.2011 | Conference of "Azerbaijan on the way to the development of society: Reality and Perspectives".
2-3 February 2011 a teacher and students group of the Western University took part in the republican scientific-practical conference of young researchers- "Azerbaijan on the way to the development of society: Reality and Perspectives" which dedicated to the Day of Youth. Conference was held in Azerbaijan University.

On 19 th of January in Western University with the participation of the faculty “Political Science” was held seminar about tragedy 20 January. The main purpose of the seminar to remember this tragedy, indicate the tragedy of young people as a symbol of the struggle for the independence of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity. Teachers and students of the University made a speech at the seminar.
06.01.2011 | Student of Western University was a first in Georgia
The 11-12 th of December Vusal Mammedov Western University’s student of the first course who studies at the faculty of “Political Sciences” took the first place over the taekwondo which taken in the capital of Georgia in Tbilisi. The competition was held between the adults. By weight 58 kg Vusal Mammedov was awarded a certificate from the president «Georgian Martial Art Confederation» Kakha Basilia.
The 27-28th of October he took the third place in the International Taekwondo Championship which was held in Baku. Competition was held between the sportsman Category A.
08.12.2010 | Who is the Author of “Ali and Nino”?
Our university has organized a meeting with Bety Blair who leads the group of researchers that spent six years to identify the real name of the person who wrote and published “Ali and Nino” novel in 1937, using Qurban Said as the pen-name. The research incorporates people from 18 countries who discovered and analyzed different publications written in more that 10 languages. As a result the author was identified as Jusif Vezir Cheminzaminli. The last issue of the “Azerbaijan International” is devoted to this research. The participants of the meeting could enjoy madam Blairs’ fascinating story and ask questions.

On the November 23rd our university organized a meeting to which the ambassador of Italy in Azerbaijan Mr. Mario Baldi and the deputy military attaché, who arrived from Italian embassy located in Ankara, Mr. Daniel Melis were invited. The meeting was held within the frames of the joint project of Western University and NATO Institute of Cooperation. The main theme of discussion carried the name: «NATO, the European Union and Azerbaijan».

The UNESCO European Center For Higher Education and the Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu have launched a call for papers for their joint international conference “life after graduation”. The conference will include round table presentations and discussions on the research topics of the call papers as well as plenary sessions with speakers representing different stakeholder groups (students, graduates, employers, career guidance services, alumni associations, curriculum development experts, and HEI leaders).
The Conference will be held in Sibiu, Romania on May 19-21.

The seventeenth of April 2010 the students of the faculty “Computer sciences and design” made the exposition under the name “Exhibition Fashion-Photo-Graphic-Paint” in the Western University. The students of the third year Nadya, Gariba, Sevil, Fuad, Indira, Konul, Yana, Ziba, Okuma and the student of the fourth year Nigar exposed their works. The exhibition had a great success. All the guests thanked the authors of this works and wished the further success.

On March 30,2010 the event was held about 31 March genocide. The event took place in the conference hall of the Western University. First Jabi Bahramov the professor, teacher in history began his speech. After him, students of Western University began to speak about 31 March genocide. At the end of the event Rauf Ismayilov introduced the exhibition of pictures and photos which were prepared by the students of the University.

In March 3, 2009, the Ambassador of Korea in Azerbaijan Ku Lvang Chul performed in front of students and teachers of Western University with the lecture “The economical crisis and future perspectives”.

09.02.2009 | The meeting with David Plouffe, the chief campaign manager for President Barak Obama’s presidential campaign
The meeting with David Plouffe, an American political strategist best known as the chief campaign manager for Barack Obama's successful 2008 presidential campaign in the United States, was held at Western University on February 9, 2009.
D. Plouffe delivered lecture on “Integration of modern information technologies in election campaigns” as well as answered students’ and teachers’ questions on the topic. The meeting was participated by as many as 150 professors and students.
At the end of the meeting, the guest was presented a memory gift from Western University.
As was mentioned, D. Plouffe was the head of President Barack Obama’s presidential campaign.
After winning the election on November 4th, 2008 B. Obama credited D. Plouffe in his acceptance speech, calling him "the hero of this campaign”, He also stated that D. Plouffe built the best political campaign in the history of the United States of America.
“The New Republic” magazine also named D. Plouffe as a person who brought success to B. Obama.
