The 4 th of May 2010 Tagiyev Kanan western University’s student who studies at the faculty of “Political Sciences” participated at the conference “The modern economical situation of ecology and its principal; directions in Azerbaijan” The conference was passed at the Business University of Baku and was dedicated to the 87th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev.

Every year the Azerbaijani people celebrate the birthday of Heydar AliyevAlirza oglu. A nation wide leader, an outstanding state and public figure. On this occasion a wide-range of meeting, conferences, exhibitions and concerts are held throughout Azerbaijan.. The XV Students Scientific Conference held on April 29, 2010 at 11:00 at Western University has dedicated to H. Aliyev’s 87-th anniversary. Professor Fikret Sadigov made an opening speech. 18.04.2010 | Exhibition Fashion-Photo-Graphic-Paint.
The seventeenth of April 2010 the students of the faculty “Computer sciences and design” made the exposition under the name “Exhibition Fashion-Photo-Graphic-Paint” in the Western University. The students of the third year Nadya, Gariba, Sevil, Fuad, Indira, Konul, Yana, Ziba, Okuma and the student of the fourth year Nigar exposed their works. The exhibition had a great success. All the guests thanked the authors of this works and wished the further success.

Related with 61st anniversary of NATO, NATO member States Embassies in Azerbaijan and “NATO Corporation Institute” declared April the month of NATO in Azerbaijan ceremonies will be held due to this item in educational and administrative institutions of our Republic. On 7-th April the meeting dedicated to this item took place at the Western University.

On 31 th of March 2010, in the art contest held by the Ministry of Education Gafarova Sabina , the student of the faculty “Computer Sciences and Design” of Western University deserved the 3rd place . So she was presented a diploma and special presents by the Ministry of Education.
30.03.2010 | 31 March –Day of Azerbaijanis Genocide.
On March 30,2010 the event was held about 31 March genocide. The event took place in the conference hall of the Western University. First Jabi Bahramov the professor, teacher in history began his speech. After him, students of Western University began to speak about 31 March genocide. At the end of the event Rauf Ismayilov introduced the exhibition of pictures and photos which were prepared by the students of the University.

This year Novruz holiday was celebrated everywhere and at Western University too. On 18th of March is the official part of Novruz holiday. The students of University made great impression on the participants with their national dances, scenes and lightening the heroes from Azeri movies.

On August 10, 2009 under the leadership of the founder of Western University - Huseyn Baghirov the first Azerbaijan-Africa Expedition took direction from the Arusha city of Tanzania to the highest Peak of the Kilimanjaro mountain Uhuru. On August, 10th at the western university in frameworks «Azerbaijan-Latvian Forum Business» the official meeting representatives of various educational institutions were which participants has taken place. From 30th March to 3rd April the Course of corresponding training was organized by the
Diplomatic Academy of the Azerbaijan Republic for young diplomats newly accepted
to work for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the theme of "International Trade
relations and Diplomacy , World Trade Organization and its main principals" in
Baku. Connected with this Ministry of Foreign Affairs has appealed to the World
Trade Organization and secretaryship of World Trade Organization has sent two

In March 3, 2009, the Ambassador of Korea in Azerbaijan Ku Lvang Chul performed in front of students and teachers of Western University with the lecture “The economical crisis and future perspectives”.
After the lecture Ku Lvang Chul answered the questions of students and teachers.
09.02.2009 | The meeting with David Plouffe, the chief campaign manager for President Barak Obama’s presidential campaign
The meeting with David Plouffe, an American political strategist best known as the chief campaign manager for Barack Obama's successful 2008 presidential campaign in the United States, was held at Western University on February 9, 2009.
D. Plouffe delivered lecture on “Integration of modern information technologies in election campaigns” as well as answered students’ and teachers’ questions on the topic. The meeting was participated by as many as 150 professors and students.
At the end of the meeting, the guest was presented a memory gift from Western University.
As was mentioned, D. Plouffe was the head of President Barack Obama’s presidential campaign.
After winning the election on November 4th, 2008 B. Obama credited D. Plouffe in his acceptance speech, calling him "the hero of this campaign”, He also stated that D. Plouffe built the best political campaign in the history of the United States of America.
“The New Republic” magazine also named D. Plouffe as a person who brought success to B. Obama.
