Legal Clinic
Legal clinic at the Western University was established in 2004 with the support of USAID and ABA CEELI. The clinic has been offering legal services to young lawyers and citizens in need for legal consultations.
The main goals of Legal Clinic are the following:
First of all, students take a one month professional training after which they start working with individuals who seek their assistance. During such work students consider problems of citizens from the legal point of view, analyze them, verify them with the legislation, discuss different ways to solves the problem with the curator, give legal advice, help to make statements and apply to appropriate bodies. The consulting staff of the clinic consists of 3rd and 4th year students of Western University and students of other universities who volunteered to take parting the project.
Legal Clinic provides a range of opportunities for practice of theoretical knowledge with an objective of preparation of competent and skilful lawyers, so demanded in our society. Legal Clinic is mostly engaged in analysis of questions connected with civil law. More than 250 people have applied to the clinic in the period of 2004-2005.
